Let down by the States on free nursery care

From David Beuzeval.
FOLLOWING the meeting organised by the Jersey Childcare Trust I felt that there was a definite move progressing towards free nursery care.

No child should be denied a proper childhood, and I believe that good nursery care is very beneficial to that.

I therefore find it quite incredible that States ministers are stating that they cannot afford to implement plans for free nursery places and residential care funding.

They can, however, afford to spend £1m on the prison, which I am sure is necessary for officers and residents, and, among other items, £370,000 to cover the Aquasplash contract shortfall.

I thought we lived in a caring society.
