Daniel Laurens (pictured) helped to resuscitate Daphne Quinn (33) after she was rescued from the fire at Mont Cochon which claimed the life of her three-year-old daughter Lillie’Mai.

At a ceremony at the Fire Station on Saturday, Mr Laurens received a Chief Fire Officer’s Commendation certificate for ‘outstanding operational performance’ on the morning of the blaze on 21 May.

Mr Laurens, a member of White Watch, who has worked for Fire and Rescue for more than eight years, tried to rescue the pair by running through the house under the smoke to the back door, where he climbed a ladder to the roof.
