Firms to get help on staffing

00235805_cropped.jpgTHE Population Office has pledged to let businesses know within 15 working days whether their applications will be approved.

The Housing and Economic Development Departments have issued new policy guidelines (available on www.gov.je) which apply to both the Regulation of Undertakings Law and the Housing Law. The aim is to provide a one-stop shop for businesses starting up, employing staff, and/or requesting J-category housing consents.

Also for the first time, the two departments have set out some of the criteria they use in making decisions about licences for new businesses and staff licensing.

Housing Minister Terry Le Main (pictured), said: ‘While we remain individually accountable, the Economic Minister and I work jointly through the Population Office. In this way, we seek to balance the need for economic growth with the need to regulate immigration and restrict access to housing.’
