To the manor re-born
Wednesday 30th July 2008, 2:55PM BST.
ROSEL Manor echoed with the decadent sounds of Edwardian England at the weekend as Islanders celebrated the enduring appeal of the motor car.
Exactly 100 years to the day since a photograph was taken marking the first outing of the Jersey Motor Association, the image was recreated by members of the Jersey Old Motor Club.
Six pre-1908 cars lined up in front of the manor, whose façade has changed little in the course of the century, along with Islanders in period costume.
Among the cars was J0, the so-called Jersey Benz which was manufactured in 1899 and was the first car to come to the Island. J0 and another 1903 Mercedes are both owned by Tim and Pam Scott.
