Cleaners to go green on plastic
Thursday 31st July 2008, 3:00PM BST.
A DRY-cleaning store in Jersey is putting degradable plastic to the test in a bid to become more environmentally friendly.
AngoraBesco, which operates four processing stores in the Island, is trialling the plastic at Cory’s Cleaners in West Centre.
If the trial is successful the new system will be used in all the company’s stores and also in Arrowsmith Marlowe’s two stores in Guernsey.
Hugh Roe, a director of the Angora Group, said: ‘At Cory’s Cleaners we use about 450 metres per week of polyroll, which is hung over customers’ garments to protect them once they have been cleaned. Last year in Jersey we used just under 170 km of tubing.
