Abuse inquiry: Bosses warned
Saturday 2nd August 2008, 9:58AM BST.
POLICE are to alert the employers of three suspects in the historical child abuse inquiry of intelligence they have gathered about them.
The move is being made to ensure that no children or vulnerable people with whom the suspects may have contact are at risk.
New witnesses in the inquiry continue to come in, and although these three men have been regarded by the police as suspects in the inquiry for some time, more intelligence about them has been obtained by the investigating team.
Deputy police chief Lenny Harper (pictured), who has been leading the inquiry, said that since the Soham murders of two children in the UK, the policy was to disclose to relevant people intelligence gained about an abuse suspect before enough evidence was gathered to charge them if it was considered to be in the best interests of child safety.
