Planning’s very own school for scandal

Saturday 2nd August 2008, 9:59AM BST.

COULD someone please do something about the former Jersey Girls College at Rouge Bouillon before it falls down?

There has been much wringing of hands and decisions made and then reversed, admittedly some rightly, but since we do have this building with so much history lying empty and rapidly decaying, could something good please be done with it?

There seem to be so many other instances where something new has to be built rather than making use of what is already there, and this is an outstanding example of that happening.

If the idea is to house the planning department in it then there have been worse ideas. A landmark building for the department whose policies dictate the state of our built and natural environment – now that makes some sort of sense.

Just hurry up and get on with it. Oh – and don’t overspend on the
refurb. Good luck!
