SENATOR Len Norman has confirmed that he plans to run for Constable in St Clement – meaning that there will be at least three new Senators in the States next year.

The Senator, who is the second longest-serving States Member, will join Chief Minister Frank Walker and Home Affairs Minister Wendy Kinnard in giving up his seat on the Senatorial benches. He entered the States as a Deputy for St Clement in 1983.

Sitting Constable Derek Gray has already announced that he is not standing again. He was nominated by Senator Norman when he was returned unopposed at the start of the year.

Senator Norman served for four terms as Deputy of the parish between 1983 and 1996 before two terms as a Senator.
‘As things stand I am planning to run for Constable,’ said Senator Norman (61). ‘It is something that I have always been interested in and I would have stood six years ago but I was tied up with my role as Education Committee president.
