Young stars can go all the way
Saturday 2nd August 2008, 10:00AM BST.
HALF a dozen of Jersey’s promising under-19 cricketers move up another level tomorrow, playing for Jersey’s under-23s away to Guernsey.
And Jersey Cricket Board manager Chris Minty is full of praise for his fledglings despite a 42-run defeat for the six in the under-19 inter-insular at Grainville on Wednesday.
Minty said: ‘Both U23 and U19 teams have a lot of younger players in their age groups; the idea now is to go with the younger players to help them prepare for the senior cricket which lies ahead.
‘We have a busy few weeks coming up; the U15s have had two games this week ahead of the ICC European U15 Division I tournament in Jersey next week and the U19s played Guernsey on Wednesday. The U23s travel on Sunday and next weekend there is the full inter-insular at Grainville.’
