Wettest day since Airport records began
Monday 4th August 2008, 2:59PM BST.
TORRENTIAL downpours and high tides combined to cause flooding in various parts of the Island yesterday.
On the wettest day at the Airport since records began, the Fire and Rescue Service were so stretched by the number of calls they were receiving that around 20 back-up crew were called in.
Roads and fields were flooded, threatening properties, and a tree came down in St Mary and narrowly missed a house after the soaked bank gave way and collapsed.
Flooding also affected the Beaumont and Goose Green area – near the site that has been given Planning permission for just over 100 homes. A total of 30 firefighters were deployed all evening and night, made up of ten officers on duty, 15 reserve firefighters and five full-time officers who were not due to be working.

KIT 4 CLUBS
Win a share of £10,000
2012 is the year of the London Olympics and to celebrate this great event the Jersey Evening Post, in association with sponsors Ogier is giving all sporting clubs a chance to win a share of £10,000.
I am afraid that, if the predictions for climate change are accurate, Jersey is going to have prepare for many more days like yesterday. Much heavier rain events like that are going to become the norm, as are much stronger winds. We should be planting more hedges now so that they are ready to help keep people safe in years to come. Maybe we could set up a ‘hedge fund’ to pay for the trees.

whats the betting they still build on Goose Green and then will say Oh dear it floods lol ! anyone who buys one of those houses will have to have one heck of an insurance policy as it will get flooded all the time ! but hey the states dont care about a little thing like that all they want is the money.
The rain was fantastic at one point it was so heavy you could not see anything but it was still warm it was like tropical rain kids thought it was great playing in the garden in swimming costumes lol better then sat in front of a tv and more fun to watch

I prophesised sundays severe weather and theres plenty more to come.
Still its good for business! however you may only apply for your ark two by two.
