Dingle’s best – bar none!
Tuesday 5th August 2008, 3:00PM BST.
JERSEYMAN Bruce Dingle recorded his best weekend ever in the British Supermoto Championships with two firsts and a second place to win overall in Saturday’s racing at Teeside.
But Dingle’s joy turned to despair on Sunday when a steel pin in his handlebars snapped, though, skilfully, he was able to avoid a major accident as a result of being able to lay his bike down and slide it on a grass siding alongside the race track.
Dingle said: ‘I was really chuffed to have won overall on Saturday; two firsts and a second is my best day ever in the Aprilia Cup Championship and I was hoping for a similar performance on Sunday.
‘But unfortunately my handlebars snapped; it was a nervous few moments and thankfully I was able to get the bike down on the floor. If it had happened on one of the 100 miles per hour straights before a bend I dread to think what might have happened.’
