Poised to set Island record

TEENAGE left-arm spin bowler Ben Stevens has been included in Jersey’s 13-player squad to face Guernsey in the HSBC inter-insular at Grainville this weekend.
The 16-year-old Winchester College student, who won the player of the tournament at the recent ICC European Under-17 Division I championship in Belfast, is believed to be the youngest player ever to represent the full Island side if he makes the starting line-up on Saturday.
Jersey Cricket Board selectors Ward Jenner, Keith Dennis, Chris Minty and team captain Matt Hague (pictured) have also included one other uncapped player, Australian Dean Morrison.Peter Gough, Steve Carlyon, Matt Hague, Ryan Driver, Chris Jones, Meeku Patidar and Tom Minty retain their places while there are recalls for Jonny Gough, Andy Dewhurst, Bobby Minty and Nigel Crocker.
Chairman of selectors Ward Jenner said: ‘We’ve chosen 13 players because the starting team will not be decided until Saturday and it will depend on playing conditions.
