Title race to go down to the wire
Thursday 7th August 2008, 2:59PM BST.
THE NatWest Evening League Division I title will be decided at Grainville next Monday evening between St Ouen and Beeches.
Both clubs won their penultimate league matches last night to set up a grandstand finish to the campaign. JEP KO Cup winners St Ouen ended Hautlians’ title hopes after defeating them by seven runs on pitch one at Les Quennevais.
A big turning point in the game came when Hautlians’ Kevan Crowell, who was batting well, had to retire after making an unbeaten 51 and when he departed Hautlians lost their momentum.
Paul Horton (pictured) also bowled the final two overs well, taking two wickets for nine runs, to follow up his unbeaten 38 when he hit two sixes and two boundaries helping St Ouen to 130 for three off their allotted 12 overs. Skipper Mark Tribe also made 38 including a six and two fours.
