Holidays for Heroes Jersey has so far paid for five soldiers to enjoy a week’s summer holiday in the Island after they were seriously injured while on active duty abroad.

Richard and Dawn Woodhouse, who launched the charity after being touched by images of wounded soldiers and inspired by a sermon on Remembrance Sunday, hope that hundreds more service personnel will enjoy breaks in Jersey in future years.

Mr Woodhouse (65) said: ‘Each day we watch our televisions and see the images of soldiers who have been injured while on duty abroad. We believe that they deserve practical help, and this is just a little thing to help these people out. The seeds were sown by the images from Iraq and Afghanistan, but the charity will help any injured serviceman or woman.’

It is so good to hear this! Most days the news is depressing, but this helps the belief that good people really do exist.
Well done to Richard & Dawn Woodhouse :)

Well Done this is brilliant being an ex serviceman myself, I would like to help with the holidays as well, as I own the BleuSoleil Campsite in St Ouen, I have had numerous serving soldiers who have had a traumatic time and once I have known about this I have offered free accomodation or very discounted rates for our tents, I would like to offer my services to Richard & Dawn Woodhouse
