Gritty debut from Adam (6) on sands
Friday 15th August 2008, 2:00PM BST.
SIX-year-old Adam Godwin wowed sand racing spectators last Friday as he scored four out of five wins in his first ever event.
The youngster, who recently celebrated his birthday and was allowed to race in the annual evening event at Bel Royal for the first time, made some lightning starts on his KTM 50cc, wrestling contenders Daniel Hillion (6) and Lucy Jackson (6) for the heat wins.
On the 65 cc bikes young rider Connor Hamon, on his KTM 65 cc, took each race, being pushed all the way by Jamie Howarth on his Kawasaki. Ryan Caurel flew to victory in the 85 cc class, with Joshua Hamon taking second place and Jayson Baudains and Zac Hannaford in third and fourth.
The Sliders class once again gave the spectators something to shout about – Jamie Griffiths, on his 20-year-old Weslake, started well, but narrowly missed a win in the first heat and was beaten by a wheel by Kevin Bishop.
