We should demand that which belongs to us: transparency
Saturday 16th August 2008, 9:59AM BST.
From Gino Risoli.
DOES any of us ever know what exactly our government is doing? No, we don’t. Yet for the last decade we have had this new invention called the internet.
Why is it that our government don’t keep us informed daily on issues that affect our lives? Ask yourself why it is that they have never thought about keeping us informed by this invention that no other business could do without.
Many hundreds of cheques are posted out daily to different organisations and companies. That detail could be ours on a daily basis.
Ask yourself why it is that we are not kept informed. The answer is that we have not asked for this technology to keep us informed. We are more concerned about our individual desires at election time, and we cannot get what we want because we have given our power away.
So please, for once, think collectively and ask for the one thing that puts the ball firmly at our feet. Demand that which belongs to us: transparency.
Information is that which changes our mind about everything. Without it, these elections are meaningless. With correct information, the possibilities will become limitless. Everyone will become a winner.
The survival of the fittest mentality is what governs us today. Our leadership cannot deliver anything different.
Transparency can only be achieved by a demand from the electorate.
