There have been 37 calls to police reporting crime, disorder and nuisance incidents in the Les Quennevais and Sir Winston Churchill Park areas this month – the highest number of calls since July 2004.

The volume of calls to police rocketed last weekend when teenagers attacked 15 cars and smashed windows at the Les Quennevais sports centre and neighbouring Jersey Croquet Club during three nights of vandalism.

It is believed that the youths caused thousands of pounds worth of damage.

Police have vowed to tackle the problem, and have stressed that the wrecking spree came after a successful eight months during which the number of calls reporting problems in the area dropped to its lowest level in three years.

Pleased to hear the Police had such a good eight months leading up to this out break. However it is a shame they could not attend when they were telephone whilst one of the cars was being attacked for the second night in a row.

Utter nonsense from the police, they trot out the same old line, firstly they need to actually get out of their patrol cars to see what’s going on! secondly they need a permanent presence in the area, thirdly it’s drink related- stop them buying it from the supermarket (parents are also supplying it to the kids!). Not rocket science just hard work, let’s be honest the police are paid a lot of money, for what?
