Duquemin wins UK Schools discus gold
Monday 1st September 2008, 2:59PM BST.
JERSEY thrower Zane Duquemin won the under-17 discus event in the UK Schools Games – the country’s mini Olympics – in Bath at the weekend,
English Schools national champion Duquemin represented the South East region, as did the other Jersey qualifier, discus thrower Kathryn Rothwell.
Although well below his best, his top throw of 50.33m at Bath University track proved too good for his nearest rivals, South West’s Liam Biddlecombe, 49.22m, and Yorkshire and Humberside’s Robbie Pickering, 44.75m.
Rothwell threw 34.96 in the ladies U17 event for fifth place, just over one metre shy of a bronze medal.
