Hotel in a hurry to add block of flats

THE Waterfront hotel company will lose their exclusive right to extend their building if plans are not approved tomorrow.
They want to add a five-storey block of flats to the north of the building — but their exclusive development permit expires on Monday.
An emergency planning meeting, with just the single application on the agenda, has been called to discuss the extension to the hotel, and Environment Minister Freddie Cohen will deal with it tomorrow.
The northern extension to the site would be built in a different style from the rest of the building — which is not held in particularly high regard by Islanders — and would contain 12 apartments with a penthouse.
