The company changed the balcony of M&S above Checkers at Red Houses into an al fresco seating area without planning permission.

Sandpiper has since applied for retrospective approval but this was refused at yesterday’s meeting of the planning applications panel and an enforcement notice was issued.
Sandpiper CI has 28 days to take away the tables and chairs on the M&S balcony and must stop the public from accessing the al fresco area.

Just another case of bureaucracy ! Give me a hat, and I’ll be damned if anybody will enjoy themselves without my official say-so !
So please tell me what is so terrible about being able to sit out on a terrace and have a cup of coffee or sandwich ? Do people in the area think that they have so much of interest, that customers are going to spend their valuable time looking in to their petty little lives ?
