Sue the States? They would blame the Health Minister of the time
Friday 5th September 2008, 2:58PM BST.
From Tom Jordan.
HAVING read of the decision to sue the States by residents of care homes I would like to express my opinion on some of the matters concerned.
Their focus of attack would be against the States who would in turn look to the Children’s Department and their boss, the Health Minister.
Senator Syvret seems to have made a speech at the Mayfair Hotel and was reported in the JEP calling the States ‘corrupt and incompetent’.
But, hold on a minute. If Senator Syvret was Health Minister why didn’t he do anything about the situation when he was the boss? As Health Minister one has supreme power over all health matters. He had the omnipotence given to him by his States contemporaries.
It seems laughable that he is protesting now, as he never visited the Children’s Department.
His excuse was in another JEP article, that he knew nothing about children’s matters so wasn’t qualified to go.
As Shakespeare said: ‘Methinks he doth protest too much’.
