The hosts won all three sections of the match, the four ball better ball 3-2 on Saturday afternoon and the foursomes and singles yesterday 4-1 and 7-3 respectively to win 14-6 overall.

Current Hampshire player Gavin O’Neill and debutant Sam Crenan, who is still a junior, each returned a maximum three points while Jersey Strokeplay champion Alex Guelpa won both his four ball and foursomes matches while halving his singles yesterday afternoon. Jersey’s success increased their lead in the series to 21-18.

Victorious team manager Steve Bowen said: ‘It was a fantastic win and I’m delighted. I’m really happy that Trevor Gray returned after three years away to win two matches while 17-year-old Sam Crenan winning all his matches on his first appearance was brilliant for him and the team.
