It’s too close to call

HONOURS finished even on the Les Creux Bowling Club lawns in St Brelade over the weekend with the inter-insular team matches shared and Jersey and Guernsey each winning five titles.
Jersey’s men’s team won the Le Quesne match 114-67 and the host ladies were defeated 106-99 in their fixture.
In the other finals of singles, pairs, triples and fours, Jersey were successful in the men’s singles and triples, ladies’ triples and mixed pairs together with receiving a walkover in the men’s over-60s championship.
Men’s team manager Peter Mavity said: ‘It was an excellent weekend and to win the men’s Le Quesne team match by 47 shots was extremely surprising. ‘Jersey has won the fixture for the past five or six years but never by such a margin; it’s usually by single figures.
Ladies team manager Sue Noel said: ‘The ladies start slowly in the wet and windy conditions but we recovered really well in the end. There was just three shots in it with two ends remaining and unfortunately Guernsey just pipped us in the end.’
