Jacks expands on the clothing front
Tuesday 9th September 2008, 2:59PM BST.
THE saying ‘One man’s loss is another man’s gain’ has certainly proved to be the case for Robert McAllister.
When Clive Temple found Jersey too expensive to continue his Rock Island clothes shop, Mr McAllister snapped up the chance to take over the retail unit in Halkett Place, using it to open his second Jacks Clothing outlet.
‘When I heard it might be available I thought it was too good an opportunity to miss,’ said Jacks owner, Mr McAllister.
‘It is one of the best units of that size in town without fully being in King Street, which is plc territory, so it’s basically as good as it gets. It’s over 2,000 square feet and you can count the number of such properties in town on one hand. This is a difficult time for retail, so it’s quite a big move to do this with everything going on.’
