Last innings win for Jersey
Tuesday 9th September 2008, 2:59PM BST.
JERSEY won the top honours in the weekend’s softball clashes against Guernsey at Les Quennevais.
The inter-insular went to Jersey, 9-8, while Guernsey won the B fixture 25-16, both matches being played on Sunday.
The A-team were winning 8-5 with one innings to go, which allowed Guernsey to level the score to 8-all in the seventh and final innings before Ronnie McAllister completed the winning run to give Jersey the trophy, a year after losing in Guernsey.
Afterwards a relieved captain, Sean Billson said: ‘Even when they drew level, I had every confidence in my team. We were two players out with just one chance to play, but we had a strong batting line-up, and I felt we deserved our victory.
