Your hospital is wonderful

WHILE on holiday in Jersey this summer my Dad, John Watts, was taken ill on the day of our departure home, 29 August.
He was taken to the General Hospital and after treatment in A & E was admitted to Plémont Ward. He received prompt treatment by the paramedics and by staff in A & E and on the wards.
Dad had never been in hospital before but he had no need to worry as the treatment and care he received from all staff was wonderful. Every little detail was attended to, even down to helping us with a mobile phone query and maps to help us get back to the hospital.
Staff were always on hand with queries and we never had to go hunting for a nurse for updates as we were automatically kept informed.
We are convinced that this attention to detail and the rapport that was built up on the ward with patients and staff alike helped him to recover to the stage when we could travel home.
The hospital was spotless and I hope the residents of Jersey appreciate that they have such a lovely hospital with brilliant staff. I know my family and I do.
I would also like to briefly mention the Beachcombers Hotel. The manager and staff were brilliant.

For all the mistakes and stupid decisions our states member make, Jersey’s health system is an enviable one and something to be rightfully proud of. But the quality of care delivered to patients shows more about the people working in these establishments than the ministers running them.

Service, it’s good.
Spotless, not so sure about that one.
