0583245_cropped.jpgPEOPLE of all ages will once again have their chance to join in one of the biggest sporting events on the Jersey calendar.

Next month everyone who takes part in the 3k Fun Run at the Standard Chartered Jersey Marathon will be fitted with championship devices for the second year.

As competitors cross the finish line their time will be recorded and everyone will receive a race goodie bag, including a marathon medal and T-shirt.

Helen Baker, race director, said that it is a run for everyone: ‘Children get very excited about this race as they get to wear the device on their shoe. Last year 260 people took part but we want more this year.

‘Runners get to experience being part of the whole event and it is a great way for people who may not be able to run to take part. Last year we had very elderly people taking part and the youngest was just nine so there is something for everybody.’

The Fun Run, which is open to everyone over the age of nine, and is being sponsored by the Jersey Evening Post, starts at 10 am along the sea front on 5 October. Children are also being encouraged to come in fancy dress for the chance to win a prize.

There are four race categories and prizes will be given to 1st, 2nd and 3rd place male and female runners.
To enter it will cost £5 for the groups aged 9-12 years and 13-15 years and £7 for the 16-18 year olds and the same for the 19 plus aged group.

Entry form: Click here. Anyone under the age of 18 must have the form signed by a parent or legal guardian.
