St Clement’s Church to say it with flowers

A flower festival to celebrate different aspects of parish life in St Clement, its activities and organisations is being held in the Parish Church from Thursday to Sunday next week.
Every window and niche of the church will be decorated by members of St Clement’s Flower Club There will be floral decorations in the chancel, and displays celebrating the church’s link with Samarès Manor and the seignieurial families of Payn, Dumaresq, Mourant and Obbard. The north transept will be dedicated to some of the history of the church, while the south transept will remain dedicated to prayer.
The festival is on from Thursday, 25 to Sunday 28 September, with a preview on the Thursday evening at 7 pm, and a retiring collection in support of next year’s St Clement Battle of Flowers. The church is open on Friday and Saturday from 10 am to 5 pm and on Sunday from 12.30 pm to 5 pm.
In the Caldwell Hall there will be a photographic display of 50 years of St Clement Battle of Flowers floats – the parish has an enviable reputation as being one of the best float builders in the Island. Refreshments are available in the hall every day. On the Friday there is also a viewing of cine film taken of the 1961 float, Rose Ballet.
