Tough draw for Jersey
Saturday 20th September 2008, 9:58AM BST.
JERSEY’S men’s volleyball team have drawn National League Division III opposition in the National Cup.
Coach Lee Ingram’s side, who are supported by HLB Jackson Fox, play at SGTV Solent next Saturday and despite being underdogs Ingram believes the Island side is strong enough to cause an upset.
Ingram (pictured), said: ‘We can win the game; we have a good incentive too, because the winners then play Coventry and Warwick. The two clubs have amalgamated and one was in Division I but they are now playing in Division II.
‘Hopefully we can win next week so we can assess ourselves against players who have competed at the top level in the country. Solent will be tough game, however, but I’m confident we will do well because we have what I believe is Jersey’s strongest side for many years.’
