Luxury home planned for St Peter nursery site

PLANS to demolish Sunset Nurseries to create a 1(1) K house have been submitted to Planning.
Martin Fernando has applied to knock down the existing nursery glass houses and staff block at Route du Moulin, St Peter, to build a six-bedroom house.
Mr Fernando, who plans to buy the site for £1.75 million on 3 October, said that he was confident that the design by architect Mike Waddington, Naish Waddington director and president of the Association of Jersey Architects, was a vast improvement on what is there already.
‘The nursery is the only eyesore in the whole of St Ouen’s Bay and I think – and officers think – that putting one house there will be a good thing,’ he said. ‘I approached the Environment Minister, the Housing Minister, the St Peter Constable and Deputy and asked them what they would like to see there and they said one beautiful house.
