Children do need discipline

MAYBE the ‘assault’ was a bit over the top, but obviously the disgraceful behaviour of the foul-mouthed 12-year-old involved in the ‘clip around the ear’ case (JEP, 18 September) needed more than to see a parent in court.
Doubtless the child will be encouraged to use the same behaviour towards adults in future unless he is also reprimanded. It’s time for some parental or official discipline to be brought into the lives of young children before they
become criminals.
