St Ouen cup hopes ended by St Peter’s extra-time effort
Thursday 25th September 2008, 2:59PM BST.
ST PETER came from a goal behind to beat St Ouen 2-1 after extra time in a preliminary round Le Riche Cup match at Les Quennevais last night.
Jon Evans fired the hosts ahead when shooting into a corner after collecting a cross from Rob Moore only for St Peter to equalise shortly after the break when Bradley Russell broke through to then slot the ball past the goalkeeper.
Muratti midfielder Jack Cannon scored what turned out to be the match-winner, a powerful header from 12 yards following Ryan Durand’s cross from the right.
Cannon said: ‘It was pretty even throughout while I think our fitness was better than St Ouen’s in extra-time. We started well but sloppy defending led to their goal. ‘We struggled in midfield in the first half but it improved as the game went on.’
