Focus needed for historic fixture
Friday 26th September 2008, 3:00PM BST.
DESPITE winning their first two games away from home, Jersey RFC go into their first home game in London I against North Walsham, knowing that tomorrow’s game will test them to the limit.
‘Although they’re currently below us in the league, they’ve come down a division and have played at a higher level than Jersey ever have,’ said coach Ben Harvey. So it will be another testing game for us and I know very little about their team. But then, at this level, there is no consistency.
‘It is similar to an international, when the way a team like South Africa plays one week has no bearing on the way they’ll play the next. They’ll change their game plan. So I’m concentrating not on them but on what we do best. I believe that, if we play as well as we can, individually, we’ll win.’
He added that he was hoping for a large crowd at the St Peter ground for the match, which starts at 3 pm. It is precdeded by a Jersey 2nds game against St Malo.
