Capita charge to win in beach finale
Saturday 27th September 2008, 9:58AM BST.
IT was a fitting finale for Capita’s beach cricket side as they stormed to league victory on the sands of St Brelade’s beach this week.
Taking the very first Tetley Bitter Oyster Box Beach Cricket title, the six-man team beat Oyster Box sixes by an overwhelming 122 runs, taking their tally to an impressive nine wins out of ten.
In fact, their only recorded loss this season was an earlier 19-run defeat to the host team – who finished fifth in the league with three wins.
Oyster Box director, beach cricket organiser and player-manager Jonathan Jones said: ‘Capita have been a very, very good side this season so we are proud that they lost to us – even though it was because most of their players were on Island cricket duty!’
