Help for struggling teams
Tuesday 30th September 2008, 3:00PM BST.
THREE walkovers in just four rounds of matches has led to the Coca-Cola Jersey Football Combination to set up a working party to look into the current state of women’s football.
With just six teams in the division this season a couple of clubs have still struggled to field teams and the league will look into helping them out in their current plight.
Women’s and girls’ sub committee chairman Mark Le Cornu said: ‘Three scratchings in four rounds of matches is a worrying statistic. We have to look at ways of trying to get matters sorted and quickly.
‘We are going to set up a working party to see the best way forward for the game. The girls are catered for at schools up to Year 9 but it’s after that when we have the problem because Year 10 and Year 11 students can not play in the senior league until they are 16 years old.’
