Same pub/hotel, same menu – so why two prices?

THE so-called Tennerfest is with us again, but how ridiculous that some establishments enter but don’t even offer a £10 menu.
Could someone explain to me how one pub/hotel offers only one menu which costs £10 at lunchtime yet it is £15 for the same menu in the evening? Do you get bigger portions in the evening? Or maybe the waitresses go topless.
Imagine if your pint of beer cost £2 at lunchtime and £3 in the evening. You might as well close at 2 pm or only keep one barman on duty just in case you get a customer.
I have had friends over from Holland and Switzerland recently, both having worked in Jersey years ago, and they said how expensive the Island has become. They couldn’t believe house prices, and when I quoted the average wage they declared, ‘How can people survive?’ The problem is that wages have not kept up with price increases.
