Grouville sunk by late Saints salvo
Wednesday 1st October 2008, 3:00PM BST.
ST PAUL’S overturned a 2-1 deficit with 15 minutes remaining last night to beat Grouville 6-2 in a Charity Cup semi-final at Les Quennevais.
Striker Craig Russell scored his second hat-trick of the season to take his tally to eleven goals as the Coca-Cola Combination champions chalked up their seventh straight win of the season
Carl McConnell, Luke Watson and substitute Nathan Taylor were also on target for the winners while Grouville registered through Luc Le Mière and Jody MacCarthy.
Saints manager Craig Culkin said: ‘Scoring four times in the final 15 minutes was pleasing and going 2-1 down seemed to kick-start us because from there on in we penetrated much more than we had been doing. I felt we were always in control, we played some really good football but the penetration was not there early on.’
