GB titles for Jersey duo
Thursday 2nd October 2008, 2:59PM BST.
THE Jersey Bodyboarders Club returned with two titles from the British championships held in Porthtowan, Cornwall.
David Speller retained his U18 crown, New Zealander Aiden Dixon won the International Division, and Colin Crowther finished third in the Masters. Due to the small waves it was decided to postpone the main Open to the first weekend in November.
There were seven entries for the U18 section, with U16s medal winners Luke Brabyn and Stephen Hall stepping up an age group to collect silver and bronze behind Speller who won the £100 prize.
The Jersey student impressed throughout, and his programme included a high-scoring invert in the semi-final, which was the first performed during the whole championships, with his fitness proving vital in the final when he produced two tweaked inverts, a reverse off-the-lip re-entry and solid rolls.
