Milk: Why the need for outside consultants?
Monday 6th October 2008, 2:59PM BST.
From Brendan McDonald.
I WOULD have thought that those top executives at the Milk Marketing Board who are being paid handsomely would be able to sit around the boardroom table and determine the price of milk. That is what they are being paid for, after all.
It was therefore with great astonishment that we were told that they had commissioned a report and hired a firm of consultants to do their job for them. These experts came back to the Milk Marketing Board with their conclusions: hit them hard, lads. Put 5p on the wholesale price and then let the supermarkets and other outlets take the blame.
Can Mr Le Gallais please tell us what the fee was for this consultation, as it is the consumers who will be footing the bill? This expensive farce will do nothing except add fuel to the case for imported milk. And if the present management can’t make policy decisions without outside help, then replace them.

Tax-payer’s subsidise the local production of the most expensive, locally produced milk in the world.
Adding 5p to the price of a litre is milking the consumer instead of the cows!
