Jersey take on the pacesetters

TWO wins, one draw, one defeat and tomorrow at St Peter a game against table toppers, Shelford RFC – Jersey Rugby Club are learning the hard way that there are no easy fixtures in London Division I.
Shelford, however, are not only unbeaten; they have scored 149 points to date and only last week beat Hertford, who until then had table-topping aspirations of their own, 45-19.
But then Jersey coach Ben Harvey (pictured) warned his players from day one that life in this division was going to be tough.
‘I don’t know much about Shelford and, to be honest, I don’t take too much notice of any other club’s websites,’ he said.
‘Although we lost last week we gave a good account of ourselves and opened them up more than once. We had our chances, but they (Barnes RFC) had a set of backs who would easily grace a much higher division.
