Proposals for tax incentives for investors have been put forward for consideration by Economic Development, but the outcome will have to wait until after the elections. The seminar, Jersey Untapped, was organised by Jersey Finance to coincide with the Branchage film festival.

The event attracted around 100 delegates and over 20 producers, including some major names such as Film 4, and Future Films, producers of Bend it Like Beckham, Enigma, and Ladies in Lavender.

Philip Burgin, group director at Jersey Trust Company (pictured), said there were three ways that the Island could develop a film sector: firstly, to encourage film makers to come here; secondly, to raise money by encouraging investment in films; and thirdly, by using Jersey as a tax-neutral jurisdiction to create film funds, as an asset class.
