Bring on electoral reform

Saturday 18th October 2008, 9:59AM BST.

From Willy Nieuwburg.
IN the recent Senatorial elections Michael Pashley ended up bottom of a pile of 21 candidates with 682 votes and obviously was unsuccessful in becoming a States Member.

In the last Deputies’ elections hapless Guy de Faye became a States Member with a mere 836 votes. He was then made Transport and Technical Services Minister with a huge budget and the power of dishing out £4 million of taxpayers’ money to Connex and wasting more than £1 million on the infamous Bel Royal roadworks.

He has stated that shortly he intends to sign the £106 million ‘insanerator’ contract on behalf of all Islanders even though he could be voted out in the November elections. Have you got this feeling that we need electoral reform?12a Dorset Street,
