00595000_cropped.jpgMICHELE Newton (née Le Quesne) is hoping to meet other members of the Le Quesne family when she visits the Island in the week of 27 October.

She is the daughter of the late Philip Nelson Le Quesne who was born in 1921, the son of Gladys Le Quesne. He emigrated to Southern Rhodesia with his wife Vera in the 1950s and died there in 1973.

Michele has e-mailed us to ask whether any members of the family, or anyone who knew her father, would like to meet her, or just get in touch.

She says that he served an apprenticeship at a garage in St Helier before he left the Island, but she does not have a lot more information.

‘I was born in Rhodesia and left in 1980. I now live on the Isle of Wight,’ she explained. ‘I am coming over to Jersey on 27 October for three days. I shall be staying at the Atlantic Hotel with my daughter Anna and little granddaughter Ava and would welcome a coffee or a glass of wine with anyone who may know anything about Dad and family. I am so looking forward to visiting your beautiful Island.’

Michele has a half-sister and half-brother, Phyllis (Bannister) and Philip (Boyce), and two sisters, Philippa (Greager) and Elizabeth (Lulu) (Dormer), who both live in South Africa. Four of the siblings got together earlier this month when Philippa visited the UK. It was the first time she had met Phyllis and Philip.

Michele, who works in catering, is very much looking forward to her visit. Anyone who wants to contact her can do so by e-mailing cookeryacademy@btinternet.com, telephoning 01983 209005, or writing to her at 287 Arctis Road, Cowes, Isle of Wight PO31 7PJ.
