Durrell ‘faces tough year’

DURRELL Wildlife Trust faces ‘a tough year’ because the current global economic turmoil will drain the Trust’s sources of funding, according to its chief executive, Paul Masterton.
And the States may have to help the charity finance its upcoming multi-million-pound development of the Trinity site.
As the trust approaches its 50th birthday next March, Mr Masterton urged local businesses to help Durrell fulfil its mission to save animals from extinction when he spoke at the Chamber of Commerce lunch at the Pomme d’Or on Tuesday.
Durrell honorary director Lee Durrell was also there and paid tribute to her late husband’s work by tracking the trust’s progress over the last 50 years.
