Haut de la Garenne: Two in Royal Court
Friday 24th October 2008, 2:59PM BST.
TWO men charged with sexually assaulting children at Haut de la Garenne as part of the historical child abuse inquiry appeared for the first time in the Royal Court today.
Michael Aubin (46) is a former resident of the home and now lives in Southampton. Gordon Claude Wateridge (77) is a former warden at Haut de la Garenne. Questions were raised this morning as to whether the defendants would be able to get a fair trial in Jersey. Mr Wateridge denied all charges put to him, and Mr Aubin reserved his pleas.
Mr Aubin was again remanded in custody until a pre-trial review on 26 November and Mr Wateridge was released on bail until his trial on 20 April next year.
