Jersey is not Denmark or Sweden

From John Avery.
I SEE that a report is being commissioned on building a bridge between Jersey and France. The argument put forward was that there was one between Denmark and Sweden which would be of similar length.

The populations of Denmark and Sweden are approximately 5.4m and 9.1m respectively. The populations of Jersey and France are 90,000 and 61.6m respectively. Neither Denmark nor Sweden are islands. Also it is not just a bridge between the two countries, there is a tunnel and they built an artificial island. The cost per car to use it is 36 euros one way.

Why are we spending money on a report like this? This bridge will never be built. We are a small island in a big world. I wish our politicians would get used to that fact.
