santanderabbey-logo-neg_cropped.jpgSIX jobs at Abbey International in Commercial Street have been lost as a result of a new IT system.
A spokesman for the bank said that the six roles had become redundant following computer work carried out last year. ‘Because of this major new system we can now restructure internally,’ he said.

Abbey International employs 128 staff in Jersey and is part of the Spanish banking group Santander.
The company said in a press release that all efforts would be made to use the staff who had been made redundant in other parts of the business. The press release said: ‘Following the successful implementation of a new banking system Abbey International plans to make further investment in new products, services and the development of front-line staff to continually improve on the quality of services to clients.’
