THE support group set up for Jersey investors in the Icelandic-owned Guernsey bank that has gone into administration has formed a committee to help its members get their money back.

Jersey Landsbanki Action Group chairman Peter Wall said that the new committee met for the first time last week. Among its members is Mike Higgins, who organises the Battle of Britain Air Display. Mr Higgins is expected to stand as a Deputy in St Helier at the forthcoming elections and was unsuccessful in the recent Senatorial election.

St Brelade resident Mr Wall said that the committee members also included three chartered accountants and a chartered surveyor. He said that since its formation the action group had made contacts with various other Landsbanki support groups around the world. ‘We have tried to contact the administrators a number of times since our last meeting. However, there now seems to be a blanket of silence, as we have not heard back from them,’ he said.

The local group now has its own e-mail address, support@jerseylandsbankiaction.org.je, and all correspondence should be sent to that address.
