A MAN needed hospital treatment for a slash wound to the stomach after being attacked when he intervened in an argument between a couple in St Helier.
The 32-year-old was assaulted seconds after approaching the couple in the People’s Park at about midnight on Friday. The man, who is of medium to large build and was wearing jeans, a blue T-shirt and carrying a jacket, was initially shouted at by the man.
The attacker then swung at him with a sharp object, leaving him with a serious slash wound to the abdomen. The victim received hospital treatment for the wound, which required eight stitches.
The attacker was white, in his early 20s, 5 ft 10 in and had short brown hair and stubble. He was wearing dark tracksuit bottoms and a dark top and wore a hat with a small peak. He spoke with a northern accent. The woman was aged between 19 and 25, was 5 ft 7 in and had slim shoulder-length hair. She wore a white knee-length skirt and a padded white sleeveless jacket.
