Met Office forecaster Mark Le Cornu said that the rainy conditions should improve this week but that the poor weather which featured on Saturday would be back by the weekend.

The Airport had more than 29 mm of rain on Saturday and the temperature fell to below 10ºC. Saturday’s recorded temperature of 9.8ºC was 5ºC below average for this time of year, according to Mr Le Cornu. ‘All in all it was pretty horrible weather, especially on Saturday,’ he said. ‘Yesterday was better, but we had the rain again this morning, although it should go away this afternoon.’

He added that the weekend’s downpour was the result of low pressure situated over Biscay, which meant that the rain moved north-west towards the Island. The temperatures were also much lower than expected for this time of year.
